To the Nurses Who Show Up at 3am

Nurses Week starts May 6. A personal tribute to the nurses who've shown up at the hardest moments — and a sweet, personal way to say thank you with Sugarwish.

Nurses Week starts May 6th — and if there's someone in scrubs who has shown up for you or someone you love, this is your moment to say thank you in a way that actually feels like something.

The Nurses I Still Think About

I think about nurses a lot. Years ago, I spent months in the hospital during two pregnancies, sick in a way I hadn't anticipated, in a season that was supposed to be one of the happiest of my life. The details aren't the point. What stays with me is this: the nurses.

They were there at 3am when I was scared. They explained things twice without making me feel like a burden. They brought warmth and kindness into a sterile room. And here's the thing that gets me — I still run into some of those nurses at the grocery store today, and they still recognize me and the now young adults they helped bring into this world. That's not a job requirement. That's just who they are.

Today, my 90-year-old father has nurses who care for him with that same kindness and commitment. Watching them show up for him, day after day, reminds me all over again what a gift nurses are to patients and their families. I'm sending each of them a Sugarwish next week in recognition of their dedication and expertise.

They Show Up at Every Hard Moment

Nurses meet us at some of our hardest moments — in ERs and labor and delivery wings, in oncology units, in schools, in living rooms on home health visits. They hold space for fear and pain and uncertainty, and they do it with more grace than most of us bring to work on our very best days.

A Thank You That Actually Feels Like Something

Whether you want to thank one incredible nurse or gift an entire care team, Sugarwish makes it easy. Every recipient chooses their own gift — because nurses, like all humans, deserve joy that's personal to them.

Happy almost-Nurses Week. To every nurse who has ever been someone's anchor, thank you. We see you.
